Quality

Our laboratories guarantee the quality of each of our products, starting from the verification of the chemical and organoleptic properties of the incoming raw materials.

Extractive processes

For all extraction processes, we only use water (as it is or in the form of steam) and organic solvents permitted by law (Directive 2009/32/EC). Chemical analysis on the water and the organic solvents used, in particular food-grade ethyl alcohol, guarantee the quality of our products. The quantification of solvent residues in finished products is carried out in compliance with current legislation.

We protect our customers by following the rules

Within the Moretta (CN) plant, production standards require strict compliance with the HACCP self-control plan, capable of guaranteeing a safe and high quality product. All our employees are trained and constantly updated in regard to the mandatory hygiene rules to be followed within the production site. The same plant is authorized for the production of natural raw materials for food (Regulation (EC) 852/2004), for the production of raw materials for food flavorings in compliance with Regulation (EC) 1334/2008 and for the production of raw materials for feed and pet food (Regulation (EC) 183/2005). Calliero is ISO 9001 certified; furthermore, all natural extract productions of the company are Kosher certified (essential oils, absolutes and resinoids). Dedicated and trained staff, assisted by the most modern risk assessment IT systems, process and update all necessary documentation required by international legislation relating to the various application sectors of our products.

State-of-the-art analytical systems

Specific qualitative analyses for the identification of volatile molecules are performed by gas chromatography coupled to mass detectors (GC-MS), while all quantitative analyses are carried out by gas chromatographs equipped with flame ionization detectors (GC-FID). Non-volatile substances are analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) coupled with UV-Visible (DAD), fluorescence (FD) detectors and mass spectrometers (QQQMS, triple quadrupole at very high resolution). The analyses are then carefully evaluated by our technicians and the results are processed through the use of the most advanced computer software. With the specific intent of guaranteeing its customers the highest standards, Calliero S.p.A. built its own research center in a dedicated building, equipped with the latest analytical instruments and modern extraction techniques that guarantee the perfect production scale-up. The company also has an agreement with the Department of Life Sciences and Biology of the University of Turin. Employees are graduates and PhD students in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Techniques and Biology.

The most sophisticated tools: our technicians

Following instrumental analyses, experience comes into play. In fact, it is only with the experience gained over the years that our technicians are able to ensure that all our products have an olfactory and taste profile compliant with the specific requests of each of our customers. Without this fundamental step of organoleptic evaluation, the product does not leave our factory.
